How the price cap is affecting the energy market?

Based on Ofgem’s typical domestic usage, the October energy price cap level is set to £1,717. This change reflects a typical household that uses gas and electricity and pays by direct debit.

Ofgem sets the price cap to make sure prices are fair for users on default energy tariffs, and that it reflects the underlying costs and inflation of the energy market. They review and update the price cap every three months.

How long does switching take?

Your energy services will be live within two to five working days. We’ll keep you updated throughout the process.

Are there cancellation fees?

Some suppliers may charge a fee if you’re still in contract or on a fixed-term tariff. It’s a good idea to check with your current supplier.

Do I need to contact my existing energy supplier?

No, we’ll handle all communication with your current energy provider. Once we request meter readings, we’ll start billing you, and your old supplier will issue a final invoice.

Will there be any disruption to my energy supply?

None at all. We ensure a smooth switching process with no interruption to your energy services.

What are smart meters?

Smart meters track your gas and electricity usage in real time and automatically send us readings via a secure network—no need for Wi-Fi or internet.

What if I already have a smart meter?

If you have a second-generation or Secure first-generation smart meter, it will continue working with all its benefits. If your smart meter isn’t compatible, you may need to submit readings manually.

Does UW support the Smart Export Guarantee?

Yes, UW supports the Smart Export Guarantee, which pays customers who generate renewable energy for exporting surplus power back to the grid.

Do I need to cancel my old supplier’s Direct Debit?

No, hold off for now. Once we request meter readings from you, we’ll take over billing, and your current supplier will stop. After they send a final invoice, you can then cancel your Direct Debit.

Is it easy to switch energy suppliers?

Absolutely. Getting a quote is the first step. From there, we’ll handle the switch with your current provider, making it hassle-free.

How do I switch energy suppliers when moving?
